From young Refugees to « Grand Chef »

Since 2016, young Burundian refugees, especially those from Mahama camp in Rwanda, have benefited from various education and training programs from Maison Shalom.Among 85 young refugees in training, 23 are currently training in culinary art at the Oasis of Peace Community Centre at Maison Shalom.

After five months of training, they are able to produce dishes and menus that are competitive in the labour market.

After their training, Maison Shalom encourages them to start income generating activities.  Now, some of our laureates contribute to the training of other young people in the refugee camp or contribute to the development of their community by applying the acquired trades and creating jobs for themselves and for other young people in  Mahama camp.
