Environmental protection at Mahama refugee camp

To improve the well-being of the refugees at Camp Mahama as well as its host community, Maison Shalom is receiving support from Swiss partner #FriendsofHumanity.

A permaculture expert came to form young agronomist refugees, leading graduates from the university formation supported by Maison Shalom, as well as farmers from the camp or the surrounding community, in environmental protection techniques using waste valorization.

UNHCR representatives and other partners thoroughly appreciate this initiative, which will contribute to camp hygiene and sanitation. In addition, it will increase agricultural production both at Mahama refugee camp and in the local Rwandan community that has welcomed the refugees and highly contributed to their integration.
