Young refugees are exposed to multiple problems, the main ones which can be summed up as: all kinds of delinquency, involvement in armed groups, prostitution to meet daily needs, excessive alcohol consumption, despair and depression in the face of idleness and an uncertain future.
Post-secondary education offers new prospects for young Burundian refugees in Rwanda who were already in university, those who had finished secondary school in Burundi at the time of their exile or who have completed secondary education in exile. The ultimate goal is to give young people new skills to enter the labor market or become entrepreneurs.
